The rules for February: if you comment on this post, you get a postage stamp: a 2x2 grid of randomly chosen prompts (for the purposes of this challenge, one of the prompts is always a Wild Card). You then complete and submit one fill that combines all four prompts.

My square. Can't promise I'll do anything with it, since I'm in a bit of a writing rut at the moment, but I snatched up the square just in case.

For the 2015 edition of [community profile] femslashex I wrote a fic called "Earl and Maid." I'll have to admit, when I decided to pick up a couple of prompts at smallfandomfest, I snagged them up because they were fandoms I was familiar with, and I wanted to write more non-Doctor Who femslash. I thought the Vikings prompt I picked up reminded me a lot of "Earl and Maid," so I decided to write a sequel to that fic, this time incorporating canon from Season 4 of Vikings. This is what I came up with:

I Might Have Been Queen (1413 words) by merryghoul
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Vikings (TV)
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, Major Character Death
Relationships: Lagertha/Siggy (Vikings)
Characters: Lagertha (Vikings), Siggy (Vikings), Aslaug (Vikings), Sigurd (Vikings), Ubbe (Vikings), Ivar (Vikings), Odin
Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Canonical Character Death, Spoilers
Series: Part 2 of Earl to Queen
Summary: Lagertha becomes queen of Kattegat with Siggy by her side.

Plugging a few comms where I participate from time to time, as well as some where I plan to write fic for during the next month-ish or so.

[community profile] fic_promptly -- comment fic comm, still thriving, although not as active as it once was
[community profile] femslashficlets and femslash100-- femslash drabble/ficlet comms
[community profile] seasonofkink -- currently having a seasonal mini-challenge; deadline is 14th February
smallfandomfest -- currently having, well, their ficathon fest until 31 January

I missed day 11 because I swear when I checked my friends feed this morning, I didn't see any posts.

Day 11
In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

But I can briefly give a creator rec to my absolute favorite smut writer in Doctor Who fandom, [personal profile] nonelvis. She doesn't always write smut, but she has the ability to write smut for so many different pairings and make it hot.

I've recced her work on fancake, het_reccers twice, and calufrax twice. So, yeah, I really like her stuff.

She usually lists where her works can be found at the top of her fics, but they can be found at the following sites: [personal profile] nonelvis, nonelvis, [archiveofourown.org profile] nonelvis, and nonelvis on the Doctor Who archive A Teaspoon and an Open Mind.

Heads up: it's sex pollen.

I'm also going to use this time to use a cut, since this also has sexual content as well as issues of (fictional) consent.

My Shakespeare quotes table for [community profile] femslashficlets, that is. Various fandoms, various ratings, and some ficlets have been posted here to my journal before (but not all of them are posted here). It can be read by going to my table here or going to the AO3 collection for this table here (where it's easier to figure out the ratings and fandoms for all the ficlets).

Day 7

In your own space, create a fanwork. Make a drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. Arts and crafts. Draft a critical essay about a particular media. Put together a picspam or a fanmix. Write a review of a Broadway show, a movie, a concert, a poetry reading, a museum trip, a you-should-be-listening-to-this-band essay. Compose some limericks, haikus, free-form poetry, 5-word stories. Document a particular bit of real person canon. Take some pictures. Draw a stick-figure comic. Create something. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Okay, so I was planning to post this today anyway after writing this before I went to bed. All I did was change a word when I woke up because I felt the word I was using didn't exist when this drabble is set. That said, here is said drabble:

Live With Us (100 words) by merryghoul
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Vikings (TV)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Astrid/Lagertha (Vikings)
Characters: Astrid (Vikings), Lagertha (Vikings)
Additional Tags: Missing Scene, Drabble, Hunters & Hunting, Pets
Series: Part 10 of Shakespeare Quotes for Femslash Ficlets: General Claim
Summary: Lagertha and how she met her owl.

(I promise I'll link my [community profile] femslashficlets table to my journal once it's done. Three more drabbles and I'm done with said table. \o/)

Day 6

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

I kinda do have a fannish wish list. I don't have faith any of it will get done, but I'll post the list anyway.

  • Art for "Invasion of the Ice Warriors" since I've always wanted art after losing the original art when the artist deleted their LJ.
  • A rec list of Vikings (the History TV show) fics--I'd prefer anything set in the canon universe instead of non-canon divergent AUs for this fandom. Any pairing or gen.
  • Recommendations of Big Finish's Doctor Who audio books. Would prefer recs for the Fifth, Sixth, or Seventh Doctor in the main range (mostly because I've heard some of Eight's run in the main range), but if there's something spectacular outside of the main range featuring Five, Six, Seven, and/or Eight (especially Eight's various stand-alone series), please sell me on them. (Note: I've heard The Diary of River Song, Vol. 1, and I plan to listen to Vol. 2 next week.)
